Sustainability

Celebrate culture. Live responsibility.

The Uferlos Festival is more than music and culture. As a non-profit gGmbH from Freising, we take responsibility for our city, our surroundings, and the people who make the festival possible. Sustainability is not a trend for us, but an attitude we want to live in every area of the festival.

We know we are not perfect. But every year we work to get better. On this page, we transparently show where we stand, what we do, and where we still need to improve.

Food & Drink

Regional. Organic. Conscious.

What ends up on your plate at Uferlos matters to us. Click through our measures.

All drinks and food are served in reusable cups and tableware. There is no single-use plastic at Uferlos. That drastically reduces waste on the grounds and shows that it can be done differently.

We work with vendors from Freising and the region. Local organic products, a local brewery and beverage producers, and nearby businesses supply our festival. Short transport routes, fresh products, strong partnerships.

Our cafe bar relies on fair trade coffee and organic products. Wherever possible, we choose ingredients from certified organic farming. Good taste and a clear conscience belong together for us.

Vegetarian and vegan dishes are available at all food stands. Plant-based food is not a niche offering at Uferlos, but a natural part of the overall selection.

Our food partners focus on high quality and regional products. Reusable tableware is standard.

Nature & Place

On the banks of the Isar

A festival that respects its place.

The Uferlos Festival takes place in the Luitpoldanlage, right on the banks of the Isar in Freising. The Schleifermoosach flows past the northern edge of the grounds. That is no coincidence, but a deliberate location: a place in the middle of the city, surrounded by water, old trees, and an ecosystem that extends far beyond the festival grounds.

We are guests in this place. After the festival, the Luitpoldanlage should look exactly as it did before.

Before

Careful setup

The Luitpoldanlage lies right on the Isar, surrounded by old trees and allotment gardens. Before the festival, we map sensitive areas, protect trees and riverbank zones, and build carefully. No unnecessary impact on the soil, no heavy machinery on sensitive surfaces.

During

Protection during the festival

During the festival, we actively protect local flora and fauna. The Schleifermoosach at the northern edge and the Isar remain untouched. Barriers prevent visitors from entering sensitive ecosystem areas. Waste is consistently separated and collected.

After

Full restoration

After the festival, the grounds are completely dismantled. The Luitpoldanlage should look exactly as it did before. No permanent footprint, no lasting damage. Freising remains a livable city.

Volunteer-run

Dozens of volunteers organize the festival. Nothing works without them.

A diverse program for all age groups and backgrounds. Accessibility remains an ongoing goal.

Non-profit

As a gGmbH, everything flows back into culture. No private profit.

Uferlos is carried by

The City of Freising

The City of Freising has stood by our side as the main sponsor for more than a decade. This partnership is more than financial support. It is a commitment to keeping Freising a vibrant place for art and community.

Our partners

Uferlos only exists because people and companies from the region stand behind it. Our partners make this festival possible. They believe Freising deserves an event that brings people together, inspires them, and stays open to everyone.

Volunteers

Dozens of volunteers build stages, serve drinks, and keep everything running. Uferlos is their festival, and they make it possible with real dedication.

Visitors

And you. Everyone who comes, celebrates, eats, and drinks directly helps fund the next festival. Uferlos sustains itself through beverage sales, food concessions, and our partners.

Local associations and initiatives are an integral part of the festival. The Freising community makes Uferlos what it is.
