About George John
George John comes from classical piano and went autodidactically into jazz and production before finally finding his musical home in UK acid jazz. After years of practicing classical piano, he discovered his talent for improvisation as a possibility of creating music in the moment, as a practice of radical immediacy and emotional presence: a one-man live set that is way more than your favorite sync-button faker. Coming from the German small town Schweinfurt, international releases on cassette and vinyl, radio plays on stations like Worldwide FM, bookings like Melt Festival in 2020, reviews from 5mag (Chicago) or Juno Records, and collaborations with Delfonic, Rhode & Brown, Donald Dust, Anton Mangold, Le Trente Trois and KX9000 supported his path. With digital and physical releases on Kommerz Gbr (GER), Gettogether Collective (GER), BlaqNumbers (GER) and Ten Lovers Music (UK), he has now published over 40 tracks internationally. It is all about the vibe of live performance combined with the energy of beats and synths. With his approach, John challenges the dogma of industrialized mood music and its listening habits. In a rapidly changing musical landscape with technical, economical and perfectionistic adoration, he tries to set a contrast through floating, emotional and developing improvised tracks. His current setup consists of Roland Juno 60, Nord Stage 88, Roland TR-8S and NI Maschine. Musical influences range from Azymuth, Erykah Badu, Jutta Hipp and Bugge Wesseltoft to Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, Harvey Sutherland and Alfa Mist.
