About Chakulou
Chakulou means dancing, laughing, and forgetting the daily routine. The six-piece ensemble from Freising plays a lively mix of Eastern European style, Jewish Klezmer, and Gypsy folklore, interwoven with jazz and reggae influences. Members Louis Ritthaler, Charlotte Born, Amelie Denk, Corvin Eickhoff, Benedict Kutzer, and Paul Mair interpret both original compositions and traditional pieces with a unique energy. With instruments like accordion, violin, clarinet, trombone, and percussion, they create an atmosphere that instantly captivates listeners and encourages participation.
